Eleven months in the books and one more to go. Back in the days, I would use the month of December to countdown before the next reunion in January. Reunions always meant a chance to see family, dance, play or just hang out with cousins until dusk. While the annual January event celebrated on Lola's birthday began in 1968, earlier celebrations were held way before most of us came to existence. The photo above was an earlier event held on November 22, 1951, Lolo and Lola's 29th wedding anniversary. Yes, the cute girl between them was Tita Florie at age 4 and she still looks good today!...thanks to Lolo and Lola's good genes.
Two years ago, on October 29, 2006, the siblings got together again for this family reunion photo op. Yes, the last 55 years may have added some gray hair and a few wrinkles, but these Esguerras have only gotten better with time.
They got together again the following year, on Oct 3, 2007, but that time without our beloved Tiang Auring.
Now that many of you have come out of the technology woodwork and have begun responding to blogs, evidenced by the numerous comments on birthday blogs for Tita Tess, Chris, Rob and Tiang Eddie. We challenge you to reminisce a bit, and tell us what you miss about past reunions. For the young spring chickens, feel free to ask old fogies questions about the early days so we can pass along memories or a bit of history before we/they get too old to remember.

My dad, Kuya Ricky (Legaspi), and I are pondering the idea of a big Esguerra family reunion on 011010 (January 10, 2010 - Lola's birthday). We could conceivably simulcast the event between PI, US, Germany and Canada with web conferencing. What do you think?
Here are Kuya Ricky's first thoughts:
"Maybe we can have some relatives from the Philippines to come over as well. If this idea is pretty much welcomed by everyone, we need to combine our efforts and plan for it...i.e. venue, accommodations. programs, video, photographers...stuff like that."
